  Netherwood Chapel

Netherwood was been an incredible opportunity - to design a contemporary chapel and wedding venue - catering for the discerning client.

It was important for the Venue to be functional - to manage the possible 250+ guests and their movements with ease. The design and construction details for the Venue therefore focussed on making the space seem inseparable from the surrounding nature - so that visitors did not feel "caged" at any point. Further, it was decided to detail the functional areas like the Bar and Bathrooms to be as indestructable as possible - resulting in a (literally) solid rock bar, as well as using vintage railway sleepers as counters in the bathrooms.

Anatomy Design was commissioned to complete a full architectural solution :

  • Concept
  • Layout and Space Planning
  • Full Interior Design and specification
  • Costing
  • Services and Electrical documentation

  Netherwood Venue

The Venue was built using the steel infrastructure of an agricultural shed - which allowed for the use of sheer glass curtain walls opening up to an uninterrupted view of the farm dams. The details integrated into the Venue allows for the most efficient use of the space - with 2 sheds being joined by a central "control" shed.

Curtains segment the space - allowing the venue to cater to functions ranging from an intimate 100 guest, right through to a boisterous 250 guest function. The volume of the shed was a concern - so chandelier details were added to break the sheer height of the structure.

  Planning

A full set of working drawings were produced - detailing all construction details, services and electrical requirements, lighting, plumbing and door schedules. All Shopfitting details were provided from the Rock Bar - through to the custom hand made copper basins.
